The State of Modern Men: 5 Alarming Statistics You Can’t Ignore

After spending a week and a half out of the office on a few hunts and visiting the incredible team at Vortex Optics, I am back in the studio with a heavy but necessary topic. While looking at the state of modern men today, I stumbled across five alarming statistics that we must address immediately. It is no secret that men are struggling, but the numbers reveal a disturbing reality that requires our urgent action.

First, men account for nearly 80% of all completed suicides in the United States. While women have higher attempt rates, men are far more effective at completing the act, primarily through firearms. This staggering disparity highlights a deep sense of desperation and hopelessness that too many men feel trapped within.

Second, 15% of men report having no close friends, a massive jump from just 3% in 1990. Despite being hyper-connected through digital technology and social media, we are experiencing an epidemic of isolation. Finding a tribe—whether at church, the gym, networking events, or through hobbies—is absolutely essential for your survival.

Third, a shocking 63% of men under the age of 30 are completely single, compared to just 34% of young women. The natural order of hypergamy often leads young women to seek older, established men who offer stability, while men generally seek vitality and youth. However, a growing number of men are simply tapping out of the dating market altogether, abandoning the opportunity to build meaningful, lasting relationships.

Fourth, men currently earn only 42% of bachelor’s degrees, the lowest share on record. This isn't just about men realizing that non-STEM degrees lack value; it signals a broader disengagement from society. Men are throwing up their hands, feeling that the system is rigged against them, and stepping away from traditional paths of educational advancement.

Finally, male semen counts have dropped by 62% since 1973. This physical decline is a direct reflection of plummeting testosterone and lost vitality. Reclaiming your edge as a man is straightforward: eat meat, lift heavy things, have a healthy sex life in a committed relationship, compete to win, and engage in inherently manly activities.

The situation is dire, but it is not hopeless. We have work to do, and that is exactly why this movement exists—to grow, develop, and become the capable men we are meant to be. Stop isolating, start competing, and take decisive action to reclaim your life today.
