JOE DE SENA | Rules for Resilience

Life is hard. We’re all dealt with hands we don’t particularly appreciate. But that’s no reason to crumble and shirk our responsibilities. In the wake of difficulty, however, it can be challenging to drive on and power through.

My guest today, Joe De Sena, the founder of Spartan has made a life of doing just that and helping millions of people do the same for themselves. Today, Joe and I talk about what “true resilience” looks like, how discipline breeds responsibility, when it’s okay to quit based on priorities, why you should make things harder, and rules for resilience for yourself and your family.

Joe De Sena

As I mentioned earlier, my guest today is Joe De Sena. A former Wall Street Broker, Joe turned his passion for physical fitness into a globally recognized movement, Spartan Races. In fact, as I started my journey to improve my physical health, I completed two trifectas (all three Spartan Races) and the Spartan Agoge, a grueling 60-hour endurance event.

Joe is a New York Times bestselling author and, admittedly, a bit of a freak. At one point he was known for carry Kettle Bells in the airport on trips (I’m not sure if he still does that or not). His books, his work, and his movement have been instrumental on my own journey and I know they will be on yours as well.

Sovereignty: The Battle for the Hearts and Minds of Men

In January of 2018, I wrote a book called Sovereignty that has been read now hundreds of thousands of times by men all across the planet. I am in the process right now of writing another book so I’ve been listening to Sovereignty to ensure I touch on subjects I haven’t previous covered.

And, as I was listening today, I was amazed at how relevant the information is (maybe even more so) almost 4 years later. I’m not going to say I predicted the future but I’m also not going to say I didn’t either.

Regardless, if you’re looking for something to read this Christmas and New Year’s Season, I have 200 signed copies sitting on my desk right now so, if you’re interested for yourself or someone you love, head to store.orderofman.com and pick one up. Again, that’s store.orderofman.com.

And, if you’re interested in my upcoming book to be released in the fall of 2022, head to www.orderofman.com and sign up to be notified via email.
